Helen Daskalakis of Optimum Building Solutions Pty Ltd has acquired extensive experience working for Local Government in all types of buildings, ranging from small scale to large scale.
Helen has gained experience ranging from Environmental Health, Building and Compliance, Building Surveying and Fire Safety, and has comprehensive knowledge of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) the legislation, the Australian Standards (AS), and the International Fire Engineering Guidelines (IFEG). Helen is an A1 accredited Council Building Surveyor, and keeps abreast to changes in the industry and legislation by attending ongoing professional training and development.
Helen has developed experience in the following areas:
- Assessing Part 4A Certificates - Construction Certificates, Complying Development Certificates, Occupation Certificates, for Class 2-9 buildings, under the Building Code of Australia (BCA).
- Assessing Development Applications for Class 2-9 buildings, under the BCA.
- Assessing Alternate Solutions for Class 2-9 buildings and liaising with Fire and Rescue NSW.
- Fire Safety upgrading and auditing of Class 2-9 buildings, including the issue of Fire Safety Orders pursuant to s121B of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
- Preparing Fire Schedules.
- Assessing Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFSS) for Class 2-9 buildings in accordance to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 and the BCA.
- Maintaining Council's Fire Register, comprising of AFSS for Class 2-9 buildings.
- Assessing 149D Building Certificates, for Class 2-9 buildings.
- Assessing and inspecting Places of Public Entertainment (POPE).
- Inspecting and reporting on the necessity of the upgrading of premises to ensure compliance with the relevant fire safety requirements.
- Carrying out critical stage mandatory inspections.
- Providing Principal Certifying Authority Services to customers.
- Investigating compliance matters.
- Issuing Notices/ Orders/ PINS as per the legislation.
- Successfully representing Council in Court.
